If you are looking for an economical alternative to high priced accommodations on Mount Desert Island, the Aldernest Cottage is the right place for you. This vacation cottage rental is located on the western side of Mount Desert Island, locally known as the "quiet side". Adjoining our lovely cottages overlooking Blue Hill Bay, Aldernest offers you a private 2-acre location with a westerly orientation so you may view beautiful sunsets over Blue Hill Bay. The rocky shorefront of Maine is just a short walk across the lawn so you can have your coffee in the morning sitting on the rocks while you enjoy the quiet, peaceful setting.

Each unit has two bedrooms and can comfortably accommodate four persons......Aldernest Loft with a queen-size bed and a twin/trundle bed......Aldernest Den with one queen-size bed and two twins. This is an ideal vacation rental for one or two families traveling to Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island.

Each unit also features:

• Washer and dryer
• Electric heat
• Pillows are blanket are amply provided
  Note: Tenants are asked to provide their own, bed, bath and kitchen linens. For those traveling by plane, we will provide linens for an additional $30.00

General Information

1. We rent by the week, Saturday to Saturday.
2. A deposit is required within 7 days to hold your reservation. Refund of deposits can only be made if we are successful in re-renting the entire period.
3. All rentals are subject to a 7% Maine sales tax
4. Our housekeeping cottage is now smoke-free. Smoking is not permitted inside at any time.
5. We enjoy pets enormously, but found that dogs and cats are frequently very unhappy in unfamiliar surroundings and make poor neighbors. We regretfully have concluded that we can not accommodate any pets.
6. In the interest of peace, we do not provide television, but tenants are welcome to bring a portable set.
7. We do limit the number of people to four persons, including children, no exceptions, please.
